Christian Bumper Stickers
Has anyone ever seen those bumper stickers that say If you still sin, you aren’t saved? Personally, I can’t stand those. First of all, everyone sins. If you don’t sin, you aren’t human. Secondly, who are these bumper sticker people to say that a person isn’t saved? How do they know who God loves and wants with Him in Heaven? The term saved gets me, as well. To be saved, most people would say you have to be baptized. I don’t believe in baptism, so does that mean I’m automatically going to Hell? Does God not love me because I haven’t chosen to get my hair wet? Wouldn’t that be kind of rude of him? Also, believing you have to be baptized into a Christian church seems to be a bit exclusive. Why can’t God love non-Christians? Jewish people, for example, are His chosen people. Muslims have a faith that believes Him to be their God. Buddhists, who don’t believe in God, believe in peace. There are a lot of peaceful and loving religions. How do we know that God only wants Christians?
Another bumper sticker that bugs me is the In case of Rapture, this vehicle will be unmanned. How do people know this? God tells us not to have pride, and to think that you’re somehow better than other people and will go to Heaven come “Rapture”, then doesn’t that mean that you’ve committed one of the seven deadly sins? Another thing, where do some of these people get off thinking that its the end of the world? People have thought its the end of the world since the very beginning of the world. If you pay attention to your Bible, as many Christians claim to do, then you should know that we won’t know when the “End Times” are here. Sure, the world could end tomorrow, or it could end in a million years. I don’t know for sure when its going to end, so how can they? If they’re prophesying, then they could be a false prophet that the Bible warns against or a sooth-sayer that the Bible also warns against. How do they know that by professing certain things, they aren’t actually evil and therefore unworthy of going to Heaven?
Why do people choose to display their exclusionary religious methods via a bumper sticker on their car? Is it a way to get more people to know they’re a “good Christian” or do they actually believe what they are saying? And if they believe it, why do they believe that God, who is supposed to be loving, wouldn’t love people who don’t worship him the same way as Christians do?
