Review: Enchanted

Enchanted by Alethea Kontis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve been in a sort of fairy tale-style book reading mood lately. The latest of that genre of novels that I’ve read is the story Enchanted. It’s a cute story that seems to combine story elements from a lot of the traditional fairy tales. There are even fairy tales and poems told within the story, including when Sunday Woodcutter tells Trix the story of Sleeping Beauty, though she doesn’t mention the story by name.

The story is really well-written, though. Sometimes it seemed like maybe the author was trying too hard to make it sounds like something that you would read in a Grimm. It was a little wordy in places, but it wasn’t so much that it made the story too difficult or annoying to read.

Since this is apparently the first in a series of fairy tales, I will look forward to the future books. I don’t know if she will continue to piece together old stories or if everything from here on out will be original. Whatever the case, I have a feeling that they will make for rather fun and adventurous reads.
