If people want to get offended by my use of a perfectly legitimate word, that’s their problem, not mine. I’m not going to give my vernacular an overhaul just because someone thinks a word used appropriately is mean. Doing so retards discourse.

But isn’t change a part of progress? Aren’t we supposed to learn from past generations’ mistakes? I mean, calling someone a retard is inline with using any other pejorative. Would you justify a white supremacist calling someone the n-word? I mean, it is a legitimate word. It’s not for most people, but for them and, according to some narrow-minded definition, it has a use.  Would using it be okay to you?  Or is it just words that you have within your personal daily vocabulary?
