I Ain’t No Stupid Ho(e)

If you ever get on Twitter late at night, you might see some odd trends. For example, the top trend for Twitter tonight in the United States is #hoeswithnoass. When I first saw this trend, I thought: Hoes have asses?

As was taught to my classmates and me (by a gym teacher):

A H-O-E is a piece of equipment. You get rid of weeds with it. A H-O is the appropriate slang term for whore. Of course, calling another girl a whore is wrong.

Now, I know that there are times when we use words in jest or in anger, but it is really ridiculous that we get on the internet and we see things like this trending. We get so pissed off when someone bullies our friends or our families. We get so angry when people put down others because of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. We do nothing, though when we see things trending that objectify women.

We love to think that we are getting more and more advanced in society, especially with regards to technology. Technology hasn’t made us smarter. It has just given us better methods of spreading stupidity.

If you see someone calling a girl a “hoe” or making fun of her ass, why not speak up/speak out? What would you want another person to do if they saw you getting mocked? If a guy said you were an ugly bitch, what would you think? What would you want others to think?
