Tattoos In Hiding

This is such an odd and somewhat alarming story. Apparently, a man is accused of stabbing someone and killing him. What makes the story unusual is that while this alleged murderer was awaiting trial, he got some neo-Nazi tattoos, which are now being covered up with makeup by the state for fear that they might prejudice the jury.

How can you honestly get the state to pay for tattoo cover-up when you got the tattoos AFTER you were arrested? This is just crazy. Shouldn’t he have to foot the bill since he chose to get these tattoos? I’m all for taking care of people awaiting trial, prisoners, and the like, but it seems kind of weird that the state has to pay for something stupid that this guy did.
