Makes me wonder thing on Twitter

I saw a lot of people going on and on about Stephen King vs. Stephenie Meyer thing, which is really being blown out of proportion. I mean, my reading comprehension may not be the best (1500 wpm at a comp level of about 55% is not great, but it’s still pretty good considering the speed.), but I don’t believe I ever read in his comments where he said that he blatantly hated it or her, which is what some people are implying. He just said he doesn’t think she’s a good writer. He also said his work influenced hers, which I don’t believe is true because:

1. She’s said she’s not into the whole horror genre.
2. As a lifelong member of the Church, it is highly unlikely that she would get into his work because of the violence level and subject content. (I’ve noticed that lifelong members are more likely to abide by the “don’t read/watch/listen if it’s offensive to religious views” than converts.)

I’m not going to comment on my opinion of his opinion (other than by saying that his influence is not as wide-reaching as he thought), because I think he’s entitled to form his own viewpoints on the series. I will, however, note that he is not the target audience, and he did seemingly admit that the target audience would likely enjoy the books.

If she’s Christian, I’m sure she wouldn’t. But gossiped things usually blow out of proportion like that.
Take care :) I’ll pass by again.
