Award Season

Ah…it is that season again. Yes, that would be award season, when the best of the best get their awards and the worst of the worst get them, too. Kate Winslet won an award last night at the Screen Actors Guild, though I was a bit upset that she didn’t win two. I never get to see her win anything, though, so I guess I should be happy to see her get the one. (I am, however, annoyed with the Academy for not nominating her in two categories, like what was done with the Globes.)

And of course, the ever present Bloggies dominate the blogging world. I never know who to vote for because, well, I’ve never read most of the blogs nominated. It seems so strange that so many people would nominate so many blogs that I have never heard of. Maybe I should form my own awards and have people I know nominate people they know so that they can receive some kind of acknowledgment from the blogging world that people do, in fact, know they exist, and do, in fact, give a crap about what they have to say. I think one award could be the “My Readers Actually Give a Crap About Me” award. Doesn’t that sound lovely? Haha. That would give me something to do while I am sitting here waiting for time to go to Philosophy of Art. Of course, my awards would probably not be as prominent as the Bloggies. They would probably be more like the Independent Spirit Awards, where the actors get nominated, but no one knows that the awards exist until channels like Bravo, which a lot of people get, and IFC, which fewer people get, start covering. Of course, I doubt that channels devoted to showing art house productions, and, strangely enough, reality shows would cover my little award show.

Okay, so you know how pathetic I am, I am actually creating this “award show” as I type. They shall be called the “Golden Blogging Spirit Awards”. If you would like to nominate someone for an award, please send your nomination to nominees@gbsa.fuzzypinkslippers.com. The categories are:

  1. I think your idea for the GBSA is a great one. I already sent you my nomination! I don’t really keep up with the “popular” blogs either; in fact I wouldn’t even know which ones they were. I guess I’m not very blog-savvy, lol. Anyway, have fun in your class! See ya around. :)
