Thank Goodness for My Mom

Tomorrow, when it’s time for me to go across campus for class change, my mom is going to come take me from one class to another. The reason? It’s supposed to be raining, and she doesn’t want me to get worse because of being exposed to the rain. I’m supposed to stay away from the outdoors as much as possible, while I’m sick.

My sinus infection/cold/flu/bronchitis/pneumonia/whatever it is has triggered my asthma. I take a breath in, and I get about half of that coming out, which eventually leads to a big cough-a-though. When I was little, they told my mom I had cough variant intrinsic asthma. I couldn’t find any info on the net about that, but cough variant asthma is asthma that occurs without wheezing and at night, and intrinsic asthma is:

Asthma is called “intrinsic” when allergies do not play a part. Intrinsic asthma is not likely to develop in children; its typical onset occurs after age 40. Possible causes of intrinsic asthma include respiratory irritants such as perfumes, cleaning agents, fumes, smoke and cold air, upper respiratory infections, and gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). Intrinsic asthma tends to be less responsive to treatment than allergic asthma.

I know I’m young for intrinsic asthma, but I was diagnosed with my kind of asthma when I was 16 or 20 months old. I know I’ve had it since I was 16 months old, but my mom couldn’t get the doctors to believe there was anything wrong with me because I wouldn’t cough around the doctors until the day I had an asthma attack in the doctor’s office.

I hate going to school when my asthma is acting up. I used to be out for a month at a time from elementary-high school when my asthma would flare up. Any time I had an upper respiratory infection, I would have asthma problems. I was a sick kid. I got turned in for missing classes a few times to the truancy people. It didn’t matter that I had a letter in my school file from my doctor that basically excused me for all days I ever missed because of asthma.

How do you bring down a group of people?

On a message board that I go to every once in a while, they were talking about what they were getting for Christmas. I told them I wasn’t getting anything because my family couldn’t afford it. I told them that one of the things I really wanted was a teddy bear. I collect them, especially at Christmastime. But of course, I don’t think they got that when I said I couldn’t afford it, that I meant I REALLY could not afford it.

This is my first year where I haven’t given my family Christmas lists. Of course, half the time people don’t pay attention to my lists. I make the lists for a reason. If it’s not on the list, it’s probably not going to be used for a very long time. The exception is clothes, but only if they’re not too ugly. I still thank the person for the gift, but I don’t always use it right away.

Yesterday my mom and I went grocery shopping. We spent $13 dollars. That’s supposed to last us for a week, until we get our disability checks. After the disability checks come, we have to go to Angel Food and order, then we pay property taxes. Then we have no money until January.

I had to get up in the middle of the night last night for cough syrup. I think I’m going to try to see my family doctor this week so that I can get some more cough syrup. And a stronger dose. My doctor usually prescribes 2 teaspoons 6 times a day, but the on-call doctor only prescribed 1 teaspoon 4 times a day.

I’m having a hard time regulating my body temperature. I get cold, then I’m hot. It’s very frustrating. Right now the palm of my right hand is splotchy from the cold. Very weird.

I’m slowly, but surely getting to post reviews/ads for different companies on my blog. I’m glad, even if it means that some people won’t visit my site anymore. I figure if someone is going to stop visiting my site because of my posting a few ads, then they weren’t really that interested in my life to begin with.

Dirty Lungs

I had to go to the doctor today…not mine, though, because he wasn’t in. I couldn’t sleep much at all last night because I was coughing so much. Well, the doctor I went to asked me quite a few times if I smoked or was around a lot of smoke. I almost wanted to scream at him that I was deathly allergic to smoke, but I didn’t figure that would do any good. He almost prescribed Cipro for me, but my mom told him my doctor usually gives me Biaxin. I can’t take Ceclor, Septra, Zithromax, or Penicillin because I’m allergic to them.

There is one good thing about no being able to sleep. I got to watch more of season 3 of Grey’s Anatomy. I’m up to the middle of the season, where they have the mass casualty thing. I don’t want to give it away because I know some people haven’t seen it. It’s gotten pretty good. The first half of the season was kind of blah. I saw the latest episode of season 4 last night, so I know something happens between now and then between Derek and Meredith, so I’m not happy about that, but I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Since today is Black Friday, I thought I’d bring up the All Year Wishes Meme again:

Based on the Holiday Wishes meme from LJ

STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered…whatever you’re comfortable with) to your LJ or a post on your blog. The post should contain your list of 20 wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related (“I’d love a Snape/Hermione icon that’s just for me”) to medium (“I wish for _____ on DVD”) to really big (“All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.”) The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it’s your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]

STEP TWO
- Surf around your friends-list/links list (or friends’ friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here’s the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true. Sometimes someone’s trash is another’s treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you won’t use–or even know where you could get someone’s dream purebred Basset Hound for free–do it.

You needn’t spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, it’s to provide everyone a chance to be someone else’s holiday elf–to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not–it’s your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just…wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you’ll have the joy of knowing you made someone’s holiday special.

My wishlist for the meme is at: allyearwishes on LJ

If you want to participate, just post the rules to this meme on your blog/LJ and post in this entry to let me know that you’re participating.

Well, I’m off to take my Biaxin and Quindal (yuck). Maybe it’ll slow down this coughing thing.

Makes Me Wanna

Yesterday, I felt better. Today, I feel like 10 times worse. I’m coughing a lot more. I woke up at about 4:45 this morning because I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t get my breath because of the coughing. I figure that tonight is going to be another one of those nights. I’m so worried that some stupid cold is going to turn into bronchitis, which will flare up my asthma. At least there’s cold air outside so that I can breathe when when we go out.

Jenny and her family came with my family to my grandmother’s for Thanksgiving. Brad couldn’t come because he had something going on in his family. I understood. My parents really got along with Jenny’s parents, especially my dad with her dad.

Jenny asked me if I baby-sat. I told her that the only time I’d ever baby-sat, I was 10 and the kids got stuck under the bed. I know, it’s been almost 14 years and I’ve matured A LOT, but I’m still worried about taking on the responsibility of another person’s child.

I wish I could go shopping tomorrow morning. I can’t. The sales look so tempting, but I literally have like $5 to spend on anything for the rest of the month and that has to go towards groceries.

How I Wish I Could

So many people have been talking about going Christmas shopping soon. I really wish I could do that. I love shopping for Christmas. I normally adopt a Salvation Army Angel and buy that child a bunch of gifts and stuff. Then I get my family gift certificates/cards, but last year, someone said something that upset me about that. I got all the cards from Wal-Mart, and apparently, someone didn’t like that. Well, I don’t have a lot of money, and you can get just about anything from Wal-Mart.

Ecommerce Software

Have you ever wanted to set up an online shop, but you couldn’t figure out what ecommerce software to use? Well, Ashop has the software for you. They have shopping cart software that will make your site more professional and will make your visitors more like to spend the big bucks with you. Don’t miss out on this experience.

It’s never been this easy before. There are so many cool features to check out with the software, including free tech support. That really caught my eye. You can customize your HTML for your own usage, and you’re not stuck with a certain look anymore. You’re open to more looks than you ever thought possible. Isn’t that cool? I’ve tried similar software in the past, and it was never that user friendly.

Try out their software today!
