Wow…15 comments. I think the last time I got that many comments I hadn’t blogged in a few weeks. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that many overnight. So, big thanks to all of you who commented.
I was going to watch Velvet Goldmine this morning, but my dad was asleep in the other room. I figured that if he were to wake up, he might come in the living room and start to watch it with me. I wasn’t quite sure if that was a good idea, so about 30-40 minutes into the movie, I decided I’d pop it out of the DVD player and wait until sometime when my dad wasn’t here. So, so far, I’ve seen a grand total of 30-40 minutes of this movie I was dying to see. :movies: I guess I’ll see the rest of it eventually.
So, today is Sunday, which means…NASCAR comes on in a little while. :nascar: I hope Jeff Gordon wins…or at least does well today. :crossfingers:
Ooh…a special on Charles Manson is on MSNBC right now. :tv: That guy really creeps me out. Of course, he was quite a creepy guy. His eyes are quite hypnotizing, which of course makes him look even creepier. The other extra creepy person from his group was Squeaky Fromme. She’s a total nutcase. She makes me look totally sane.
Ambie asked how much the Gastric Bypass Surgery cost me and how I did it. The actual surgery didn’t cost me anything. At that time, I had very good insurance and it paid for all of it. I guess I can quickly go through the story of how the whole process went down. Three years ago, I started seeing a doctor in Birmingham. After about 8 years of (unsuccessful) dieting, my family doctor had found this gastroenterologist who was doing a weight loss program for teenagers. So, I went down to Birmingham every few months to see him and have my weight checked. I lost about 20-30 pounds while I was seeing him…then I got sick and started drinking apple juice, which I had given up. All of a sudden, I gained that weight back, plus some extra weight. So, after two years of going to this doctor, he realized that I was sort of beyond his help, so he recommended that my mom and I find someone to do the surgery on me. We started looking for someone in Birmingham, but they were all busy. Then, we heard good things about Dr. Facundus, who happened to be in Huntsville/Athens. According to everything we’d heard, he was an excellent surgeon and he had a remarkable track record. (No patients lost due to the surgery. One died from a medication reaction, but that wasn’t his fault.) Anyways…I first went to see him in March of 2001. He made me go for lots of testing and other stuff. I also had to write a letter to my insurance company to be approved for the surgery (before I went for any testing). They approved it within 3 days of sending the letter. Scheduling it was a big hassle, because everytime I thought they had all the info they needed, they would need something else. Eventually, they told me that my surgery date would be in October. I had to start back to school in August, so we (my parents and I) knew October wouldn’t be good for me, so we asked if they could try to find another date. Luckily, a few days later, the scheduling person called and said that July 30 had opened up. I took it. So, I had my surgery and got to come home the next day. I was in pain for a while, but only had to take medication for it for a few days. :medicine: I’ve only had a few problems over the past few months…I can’t eat certain foods; I also have to chew things to dust practically and eat quite slowly (otherwise, I get very sick). So far, I’ve lost 90 pounds. So, that’s my big surgery story….any more questions?
I sent Micki some codes for Fuzziness (the fanlisting for me). I hope she likes them. If I had had some pictures of me, I could’ve made codes out of those, but I don’t have any recent pictures of me. I made 2 Buffy-related ones, 2 random ones, and 1 Christina Aguilera one. They’re all 50×50. I almost made some more, but I decided I didn’t want to overwhelm her.
