Very worried…

My dad works for a major electronics manufacturer (it’s hq’d here in town) as a buyer and today we found out that the company is being bought out by Sanmina. Usually, the company he works for buys out other companies…and a lot of times, it ends up shutting plants. So, of course, this worried me.

The founder of the company said that he doubts that Sanmina will get rid of people here. Yeah, what does he know? He’s got plenty of money and he’s got an ensured chance of keeping his job.

What about people like my dad or other people working there?

My family can’t afford for my father to lose his job over this. Then, what? We’d be relying on my mom’s SSI disability and eventually we’d get unemployment benefits. So, we’d be fully relying on the government? That’s great. What about our health insurance and mental health insurance? This is crazy. And then, when my dad finally got a new job (which with the economy the way it is would be hard), how long will that last? And what if he’s forced to move? Yeah, I don’t go to school with all my friends anymore, but I’m about to start to college AND I don’t want to leave the SE yet. I only have a few more years with my grandmother.

I know, I’m probably panicking over nothing, but it isn’t nothing…it’s something! It’s major!

I need to relax.

*sigh*
